We all experience regret, but you don’t have to live with it. Regret is something that we all face, but it comes in different forms. The smallest regret can be a regret of not having tried something more than once, and the biggest regret can be a regret of not having tried something at all. Regrets are sad and can dim the light of our lives, but they can be overcome by learning from our mistakes and moving on.

This may sound like a weird, but I believe that a life without Regrets is a life without regrets. It means that if you have made a mistake, you don’t have to dwell on it. Because if you have made a mistake, you have the opportunity to make the best of it and learn from it. You’ve got to look at the positive effects of a mistake, instead of dwelling on the negative effects.

Often, we make decisions without thinking about the impact they may have on our lives. We do this out of habit or because we forget to take into account the consequences. Then, later, we regret the decisions and wish we had done things differently. This is why it is important to be intentional and think about how the decisions we make influence our lives.

word-image-16902 I pour myself a glass of cold water, find a comfortable spot and start peeing. I grab my journal and watch the ink run down the paper on my lap. For a few minutes, I immerse myself in my work. Then I check my phone, get up to make a snack for the kids and look out the window. I took thirty minutes to write my thoughts, but I only wrote five. I’m bored. I want to write more often, but I rarely get the chance. The truth is, I have no excuse. I get distracted by other things. As a software developer, I worked hard to accomplish my tasks. Now I need the same focus. I need to be aware of my time and energy.

What does it mean to be deliberate?

What does it mean to be intentional? To be intentional, we stop reacting to the events in our lives and instead take control of them. Instead of wandering aimlessly and directionlessly through the day, we choose the right path for our tasks and determine our effectiveness. When we live intentionally, we make conscious choices every day that help us feel fulfilled and satisfied. So we stop wasting time and start making the most of it. So how can we learn to live more consciously? Here’s what I’ve discovered so far.

Be aware of your goals

First we have to decide what we’re going to do on purpose. What do you want in life? Do you want to start your own business, make a career, become a stay-at-home mom or dad, or leave it all behind and live a life of adventure and intrigue? Some want to run a successful business, others want to spend time with their children or travel the world. Your goals are your right to choose. When assessing your abilities, think long and hard about your goals, not the goals imposed on you by well-meaning parents, friends or the rest of society. To begin this process, you must define for yourself the concept of success. Don’t let someone else’s idea of achievement become yours. If you still don’t know where to focus your energy, imagine you’re a centenarian. When you reach that age, will you regret it? If so, address these issues. Ask your heart where it wants to go and what it wants more than anything else. To be intentional, you need to focus your time and attention on the things that are most important to you. What do you like? What makes you feel rested, relaxed or satisfied? If you’re not sure, take the time to think about what you want to accomplish in life. By discovering your passions and goals, you can start focusing on them. To use your time, energy and money wisely, you need to understand what matters most. If you don’t know what you want to achieve, you won’t be able to take measurable steps to get there. Whatever you want to achieve, you need to set a course to get there. We know this truth at first, but often ignore it. For example, if you want to run a marathon, you need to train. You can’t sit on the couch watching Netflix the months before a race and expect to run a few miles on race day. The same goes for all other life goals. First, you must intentionally dedicate your time, energy and resources; you must set aside time in your schedule to prepare.

Mind your time

To be intentional with your time, you need to know how you spend your time. If you’re not sure, try counting the number of minutes in your day. Write down the tasks you completed in fifteen or thirty minutes, and be honest with yourself. That means watching four hours of Netflix or tracking the time you spend on social media. Then review your time log to determine what needs to be changed. For example, are you spending too many hours at work or not getting enough sleep? After you’ve kept the log for a few days, determine what needs to be deleted and what needs to be expanded.

Why we all need schedules

Being time conscious means different things to different people. For example, some people need a minute-by-minute daily schedule with events that tell them when to get up, eat, exercise and sleep. Others need to free up time for specific tasks. Do you need an hour in the morning to write before your family wakes up, two hours to brainstorm business ideas, or five minutes to meditate before you get out of bed? It doesn’t matter how you set up your schedule. It is important that you set aside some time for your tasks. In some cases, it is useful to set up a specific routine to ensure that each task is completed. For example, do you prefer to work out every morning before work, or can you work out every day or at any time of the week? Find routines and patterns that work for you. Experiment with days of the week and schedules. Also, pay attention to your energy level when planning tasks. Some of us feel creative in the morning, while for others the creative juices don’t flow until the evening. Don’t force yourself to follow a schedule that doesn’t match your circadian rhythm. I hate waking up early in the morning. If I force myself to complete a task, I will probably fail. I prefer to take my time later in the day. Being intentional with your time doesn’t mean sticking to a tight schedule. On the contrary: You can approach your day in a more relaxed way if you take the time to focus on the tasks and priorities that are important to you. If you don’t schedule time, you will get distracted and lose time. Set small goals for the time you have available. For example, suppose you want to come up with ten new ideas for your business, talk to your parents for thirty minutes, or reconnect with your business partner on the way home from work. Find ways to eliminate distractions so you can focus. For example, close all browser tabs, turn off notifications, and get the kids out of the room. I started writing with pen and paper so I wouldn’t be distracted by the computer.

Pay attention to your to-do list

You need to use your time wisely to achieve your goals, but you also need to use your task list wisely. First, determine what you want to accomplish each day. Then create small steps to achieve these goals. If you want to create a million dollar blog, you need to take the time to write articles, speed up the pages or communicate with the mastermind group. If you want to grow your business, consider talking to other successful business owners, creating a plan to acquire new customers, or reviewing your marketing strategy. Divide each of these tasks into small time segments. Ideally, you should complete the task within the allotted time. Most people think of tasks as work-related events, but add social and emotional goals to your list as well. Take time off from work and other activities. For example, take time to read to the kids, cuddle with your spouse or sit down with a cup of tea after a busy day. Review your to-do list every night before you go to bed. Were you satisfied with the tasks you performed? Do you want to celebrate others? Do you feel excited and satisfied or rushed and irritable? Use this time to adjust your to-do list for tomorrow.

Conscious processing of relaxation

When you create your program, remember to include rest periods. It is very important that you take the time to rest. If you take the time, you won’t feel guilty watching TV or scrolling through social media. Lie back on the couch and let your mind wander, but set a timer before you begin. When the timer runs out, move on to the more productive goal you wanted to achieve. This goal can be more relaxing, but in a different form. Go for a walk, take a bath, draw, write or read. Do whatever helps you relax in a way that feels good.

Be intentional in your relationships

Being intentional about relationships means taking the time and energy to strengthen them. Think about the people in your life now and the people in your past that you miss. Then ask yourself why this relationship was important to you. Strengthen the relationships that fill you with warmth and joy. You don’t have to spend two hours on the phone. Instead, say you remember a funny incident or that you passed by a place you used to frequent and thought of them. Strengthen the relationships that are worthwhile, and find ways to limit or let go of the relationships that don’t support you or your beliefs. Send a simple text message to see how someone is doing, or a quick email. If you have the time and energy, write a letter to an older relative or friend halfway around the world. Use your limited time on this planet to connect with those around you. When speaking to others, be intentional with your words. Address others with caution. Learn to speak from a positive attitude whenever possible. Praise those who should be praised and thank those who help you in small ways. Intentionality in relationships is just as important, if not more so, than intentionality in work and sport.

Be aware of your energy

It is easy to be put off by negative people and ideas. Be careful how much information you read, and look for positive stories when the world seems dark and bleak. Find a support group if you need one, and surround yourself with friends who believe in you. If you’re having trouble coming up with ideas or feeling confident, friends and acquaintances can help lift your spirits. Don’t waste your time comparing yourself to others. Instead, take the time to believe in yourself. Be aware of your feelings and show kindness whenever possible.

Be careful with your money

Many of us spend our entire lives chasing the almighty dollar. We believe that spaces filled with possessions make us happy and bring lasting joy. We define our success by a promotion and a salary, but we are miserable when we increase our bank account. To acquire wealth, you must achieve a balance between earning and saving. Most of us have to sacrifice our time for money. We will work every day to maintain ourselves and our lifestyle. But is this action deliberate? To be mindful of money, calculate how long it will take you to buy the things you want. So ask yourself: Would you be willing to work a few years longer to buy a more expensive car? Are you willing to work even longer to buy the biggest house on the block? Part of living consciously is thinking about how you spend your money, rather than pulling out your wallet every time you want to buy something new. Most of us think we need more things in our lives, but what we really need is fewer possessions and more joy.

Conscious living

To be purposeful in our lives, we must carefully examine the choices we make each day. Life may seem like a random sequence of events, but we can control much of what happens on any given day. To reach our goals, we need to take small steps in the right direction. We can do this by providing space, time and energy. Why do we have to be intentional? Because we want to live a full and happy life. We don’t want to waste hours of our day. Instead, we want to go back in time to a century ago and dream of a life where we made full use of the time we had. Most of us strive to live our lives without regret. To achieve this goal, we must be aware of our resources.When we do something, there is usually a reason behind it. Some reasons are good. Other reasons are bad. We make mistakes, and we wish we could go back in time and stop ourselves from doing what we did. There is a balance between regret and learning.
