The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that 28 persons pass away in vehicle accidents involving drunk drivers in the United States each day.
Driving under the influence has substantial negative effects on a driver’s insurance premiums in addition to dangerously endangering people’s lives. According to the most current industry data from Insurify, drivers with just one DUI on their record may expect to spend up to $1433 more in premium expenses year than those with a clean record.
Although, regrettably, anybody may choose to drive while intoxicated, owners of certain types of automobiles are more likely to get DUI tickets. The research team at Insurify examined the facts to determine the automobile models with the most DUIs in 2021 in order to know which ones drunk drivers are most likely to be driving.

- The top 10 vehicles include a variety of vehicle types. There are many different kinds of vehicles in the top 10 automobile models for DUI offenses. These 10 automobiles range in size, price, and performance from midrange cars and minivans to luxury sedans and sports cars. Notably, three of the ten are from premium manufacturers BMW, Audi, and Jaguar, while the other four are from Mazda and Chevrolet, which are more affordable.
- More DUIs occur in older vehicles. Six of the ten models with the highest rates of DUI have been phased out as of 2008 at the latest (one of the six, the Acura Integra, is due to relaunch in 2023). The NHTSA reports that the age categories with the greatest rates of DUI are 21 to 24 years old, followed by 25 to 34 years old. Younger drivers may choose used, less costly vehicles, which might account for the greater DUI rates among owners of these withdrawn models.

Methodology
The data scientists at Insurify, an online marketplace for comparing vehicle insurance, used their database of more than four million insurance applications to determine which automobile models had the greatest rates of DUI in 2021. The main vehicle’s type and model, as well as any moving offences within the last seven years, are all pieces of information that drivers must provide when applying for auto insurance.
The data scientists at Insurify compared the total number of drivers across 415 distinct vehicle categories to the number of drivers reporting having had at least one DUI ticket in the previous seven years. The ten automobile models with the greatest percentage of drivers who received a DUI citation in 2021 were determined. The most current car model year is reflected in the MSRP and MPG data, which were gathered from manufacturer websites.
Insurify’s database of more than four million vehicle insurance applications yielded the statistical patterns that are shown in this article. The results of this research are not intended to suggest a causal connection between the variables or even that one exists. Instead, this is a display of publically relevant statistical connections.

10th-generation BMW

BMW 7-Series drivers are 2x more likely to drive while intoxicated than the typical driver, with 38.5 out of 1,000 drivers having at least one DUI on record.

Jaguar S-Type 8.

Jaguar automobiles are renowned for their traditional luxury feel and imposing appearance on the road. Drivers of the Jaguar S-Type, which is ranked as the third most luxurious car, have the seventh highest DUI rate in the country, which is 120 percent more than the national average.

Owners of the Mazda3 are justifiably pleased to operate such a stylish, powerful, and affordable automobile. Unfortunately, the fourth-highest DUI rate in the country continues to be maintained by these drivers. Despite receiving the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) designation of 2021 Top Safety Pick, Mazda3 drivers tend to be more reckless than their car might suggest, especially when it comes to getting behind the wheel while intoxicated: Mazda3 drivers receive citations for DUI 2.3 times more frequently than the average driver.

Chevy Caprice 3.

1. GMC C1500

This reliable truck may be more durable and understated than the high-end sports cars that dominate the rankings, yet GMC C1500 drivers choose to drive while intoxicated more often than those of any other automobile in the nation.
